CDS-5000 Coal Dust Suppressant
Product Description and Applications
CDS-5000 is a revolutionary product that minimizes the age-old problem of coal dust fines prevalent in the coal mining industry, especially in the metallurgical industry where coal is washed and dried, producing a severe dryer dust problem. It is best used for raw coal dust problems because it not only agglomerated coal dust fines but prevents freezing and is safe on all types of conveyor belts and equipment. It was designed to reduce the myriad of serious personnel and environmental hazards, equipment problems and yield losses caused by airborne dust fines created during the mining handling, transferring, storage, loading, transport and unloading process.
CDS-5000 employs a unique blend of ingredients with minimal water content which thoroughly penetrates the dust fines, agglomerates and binds them together and maintains a tightly-bound, non-dusting mass. It is far more effective and longer-lasting than any coal dust suppressant currently available that is not oil-based. The special ingredients in CDS-5000 actually draw the coal dust and fines to the larger coal chunks and bind them by molecular charge.
The following outstanding characteristics translate to significant cost savings and hazard reductions: Reduction or elimination of dust problems between the dryer building and loading area. Possible reduction of insurance premiums by containment of environmental hazards through lower dust levels in the dryer building, conveyor galleries and at the storage silos. Reduction of maintenance/housekeeping labor/repair costs due to lower dust levels. Reduced dust levels in operating areas improves workforce moral and frequency of area checks. Improved operating and environmental concerns win support of government and mine legislating bodies. No major capital investment required to implement CDS-5000 program. CDS-5000 is a ready-to-use product, requiring no labor or cost for mixing or preparation. CDS-5000 will be delivered in bulk trucks which creates no handling or storage problems. Your customers will have a reduction in environmental dust during their unloading process.
CDS-5000 also significantly alleviates the problems of limited visibility, inhalation exposure, abrasion damage to equipment and handling systems, safety hazards associated with in-plant machinery and haul vehicles, fire and explosion hazards, and in-plant yield losses to airborne dust and fines.
Product Benefits
CDS-5000 possesses the following performance characteristics:
- High agglomeration percentages (see test data below)
- Longer lasting dust fine agglomeration
- Binding of dust particles to larger coal chunks
- Anti-freezing (freeze point of -56F) and lubricating properties.
CDS-5000 well outperforms oil sprayed on coal dust, which typically agglomerates only about 36% of the fines. CDS-5000 usually agglomerates fines by as much as 50-60%, even after exposure to precipitation and freezing. The following test data illustrates the superiority of CDS-5000 over plain oil in the control of dust fines:
