HEAT TRANSFER FLUID ADDITIVE PACKAGES

Additives Inc. specializes in the development and the production of additive packages (Add Paks) used to make virgin, or recycled, propylene and ethylene glycol-based heat transfer fluids. These inhibitor/additive solutions can simply be mixed with ethylene or propylene glycol at the treat rates given in the individual product bulletins to make heat transfer fluids for various markets/applications. The HVAC Heat Transfer Fluid Add Pak (HVAC-1) and the Closed Loop System Heat Transfer Add Pak (CLS-AP) are primarily used in building heating and air conditioning systems. The Closed Loop System Add Pak is made with food grade ingredients and is acceptable for use in food storage, refrigeration, and freezing applications. The products made with these additive systems are equivalent to Dowfrost and Dowtherm (Dow) and to Ucarfreeze and Ucartherm (Union Carbide).

The Heavy-Duty Industrial Heat Transfer Fluid Inhibitor Packages (HDIS-1/HDIS-2) are used to make a more sophisticated glycol-based fluid used in more demanding applications. These include compressor engine cooling systems and line/bath heaters in the natural gas industry; heat exchange systems in the refining and chemical industry; etc. The products made with these additive systems are equivalent to Ambitrols (Dow) and Norkools (Carbide).* As for HVAC-type inhibited glycols, the heavy-duty inhibited glycols are usable up to a maximum continuous bulk operating temperature of 250° F-275° F.

The high-quality and guaranteed integrity of Additives Inc.’s formulations allow you to blend heat transfer fluid mixtures at significant savings. Additives Inc.’s professional lab and expert chemists and ready to assist you with monitoring and testing, and with your blending-related questions and problems. Designed with long fluid life applications in mind, Additives Inc.’s high-quality formulations:

  • Contain no silicates
  • Contain no corrosion inhibitors that catalyze oxidation decomposition
  • Use only deionized water, eliminating the adverse effects of corrosive mineral salts
  • Provide greater heat transfer efficiency
  • Provide continuous protection, and longer life for equipment

CLS-AP ( Closed Loop System Heat Transfer Fluid Add Pak) Contains only food grade ingredients. When it is used with the appropriate grade of propylene glycol which is generally regarded as safe (GRAS) by the FDA/USDA, the heat transfer fluid produced can be used in applications where there is a possibility of incidental contact with food or beverage products in a processing facility. CLS-AP mixes readily with glycols at temperatures as low as 50° F, and can be stored without crystallization, above 60° F.

HDIS-1 (Heavy-Duty Industrial Heat Transfer Fluid Inhibitor Package-1)An industrial strength, glycol based, inhibitor package, HDIS-1 inhibits corrosion, enhances performance and produces outstanding propylene glycol and ethylene glycol heat transfer fluids. Products made with HDIS-1 are sold to natural gas gathering & processing plants, oil fields, refineries, asphalt plants, etc. HDIS-1 is equivalent to Ambitrols (Dow), Norkools (Carbide), Jeffcool E100/P150 (Huntsman), etc.
HVAC-1 (Heat Transfer Fluid Glycol-Based Inhibitor Package) HVAC-1 is a fully formulated additive package developed for use with ethylene, or propylene glycols, and may be used to make heat transfer fluids for these applications. HVAC-1 mixes readily with glycols at temperatures as low as 50° F, and can be stored without crystallization, above 60° F.

Quality Control

To ensure quality control and assurance, all blending is controlled under ISO 9002 standards. Each individual batch rigorously tested for conformance with product and industry specifications prior to storage, packaging, or shipment. This laboratory analysis is thoroughly conducted by Additives Inc. A Certificate of Analysis for each lot is produced and is available to customers.

Technical Support

It is always necessary to confirm that your products meet the required specifications. Additives Inc.'s laboratory and chemists are available to test any antifreeze products containing Additives Inc.'s Add Pak as a complimentary service. In this way, Additives Inc. can help you to establish or confirm your quality control and assurance program. However, we will not warranty any Additives Inc.'s product if the blending procedure is not properly followed and/or if the glycol being used contains impurities that do not allow the final product to meet the minimum ASTM standards.

Guarantee - Warranty

Additives Inc. will only warranty our products if instructions and outlined procedures are followed. It is always necessary to confirm that your product meets the required specifications using the ASTM recognized tests and standards. Should you have a problem meeting your required specifications, Additives Inc. technical personnel will test your glycol, while you establish use levels of our products.
