FINISHED HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT
TRANSFER FLUIDS

Additives Inc. can
provide the finished propylene or ethylene glycol-based fluids inhibited
with Additives Inc. Add Paks. These can be concentrates or fluids prediluted
to any desired level with deionized water, as in Additives Inc. HDIS-PG-60.
For higher temperature
applications, Additives Inc. offers you a line of alkylate and polyalkylene
glycol-based fluids. The most versatile of these is HITEMP-200, which
has an operating range of -40° F to 600° F. All of these fluids
are extremely stable and resistant to thermal and oxidative degradation.
These fluids are used in applications such as chemical plant heating systems,
refinery heat exchange systems, certain gas plant process heating systems,
injection molding systems, pulp and paper processing, and asphalt melters.
In the latter application, most asphalt melters use less expensive heat
transfer oils. However, these mineral oils (Mobiltherm, Texatherm, etc.)
thermally and oxidatively degrade to form carbon and sludge. Often the
user is better off in the long run to use a synthetic like HITEMP-200,
even though it costs more initially, because it lasts much longer and
doesnt involve system clean-outs and fluid change-outs as do heat
transfer oils.
Characteristics/Capabilities
High-Temperature Heat Transfer Fluids (HITEMP-100, HITEMP-200, HITEMP-300):
- Non-glycol-based
alkylates and polyalkylene glycols
- High level of
thermal and oxidative stability
- Operating range
of -40° F to 700°F
- Flash points from
325° F to 650°F
Applications
Glycols reach their upper operating temperature limit at 250°F to
300°F. Heat transfer oils can operate up to 650°-750°F, but
are not as stable and degrade, forming sludge and coking up heat transfer
surfaces. At high-temperatures, heat transfer fluids provide a clean,
high-boiling-point, high-flash-point alternative. They are used in gas
processing plants, chemical processing plants, refineries, pulp processing
plants, rubber and plastic die and mold operations, laminating and calendering
rolls, drying ovens, zinc and aluminum dye-casting, etc.

| HITEMP-100
Inhibited/stabilized
HITEMP-100 possesses excellent heat transfer characteristics, with
a high specific heat and thermal conductivity. With its high flash
and boiling points and low pour point, it may be used in continuous
operation over a temperature range of 0° F to 600° F. HITEMP-100
functions efficiently at atmospheric and low pressures, eliminating
the need for high pressures to obtain uniform process heat transfer. |
| HDIS-1-PG/EG
(Inhibited Propylene Glycol Heat Transfer Fluid) HDIS-1-PG/EG is a
superior heat transfer fluid for any applications requiring a non-hazardous,
but durable heat transfer medium which can operate over a wide temperature
range. |
| HTF-EG-1
and HTF-EG-2
This ethylene glycol-based heat transfer fluid, HTF-EG, provides dependable,
and superior, corrosion-inhibiting properties for use under the most
demanding industrial conditions. HTF-EG is appropriate for use in
systems containing steel, solder, cast iron, brass, and aluminum,
and is compatible with most types of plastic piping. HTF-EG-1 performs
well in the temperature range between -60ºF and 250ºF. HTF-EG-2
works between -60ºF and 350ºF. |
| HTF-PG
(Heat Transfer Fluid - Propylene Glycol) HTF-PG is for use in systems
containing steel, solder, cast iron, brass and aluminum; and is compatible
with most types of plastic piping. This versatile product performs
well in the temperature range between -50°F to 250°F. |
| HTF-PG-HD
(Heavy-Duty Heat Transfer Fluid - Propylene Glycol) HTF-PG, provides
dependable, and superior, corrosion-inhibiting properties for use
under the most demanding industrial conditions. It uses the Additives
Inc. HVAC-1 additive system. HTF-PG is appropriate for use in systems
containing steel, solder, cast iron, brass, and aluminum, and is compatible
with most types of plastic piping. This versatile product performs
well in the temperature range between -50ºF and 325ºF. |
| HTF-PG/FP
(Fire Protection System Inhibition Package - Propylene Glycol Based)
HTF-PG/FP protects fire system parts - pumps, piping and tankage -
from freezing, corrosion and extended periods of exposure to motionless
fluid. The stabilized inhibitor package prevents "fall out"
and silicate gelation while protecting the ferrous metals (steel or
cast iron), the "soft" or "yellow" metals (copper,
brass, solder), and aluminum. |
| HDIS-PG-60
(Inhibited Propylene Glycol Heat Transfer Fluid) HDIS-PG-60 is a superior
heat transfer fluid for any applications requiring a non-hazardous,
but durable heat transfer medium which can operate over a wide temperature
range. The propylene glycol base is diluted with high purity deionized
water to increase the stability of the fluid and minimize scaling
problems. None of the inhibitors used in this product are classified
as hazardous, which makes it acceptable for applications in which
incidental contact with food materials may occur. |
Quality
Control
To ensure quality
control and assurance, all blending is controlled under ISO 9002 standards.
Each individual batch rigorously tested for conformance with product and
industry specifications prior to storage, packaging, or shipment. This
laboratory analysis is thoroughly conducted by Additives Inc. A Certificate
of Analysis for each lot is produced and is available to customers.
Technical Support
It is always necessary to
confirm that your products meet the required specifications. Additives
Inc.'s laboratory and chemists are available
to test any antifreeze products containing Additives Inc.'s Add Pak as
a complimentary service. In this way, Additives Inc. can help you to establish
or confirm your quality control and assurance program. However, we will
not warranty any Additives Inc.'s product if the blending procedure is
not properly followed and/or if the glycol being used contains impurities
that do not allow the final product to meet the minimum ASTM standards.
Guarantee - Warranty
Additives Inc. will only
warranty our products if instructions and outlined procedures are followed.
It is always necessary to confirm that your product meets the required
specifications using the ASTM recognized tests and standards. Should you
have a problem meeting your required specifications, Additives Inc. technical
personnel will
test your glycol, while you establish use levels of our products.
